About the role

The HR Coordinator is based in Pretoria, but will also provide support to the hubs in Nairobi and Brisbane. The HR Coordinator will assist the Deputy Team Leader (DTL) and other senior managers to manage the human resource requirements of the program to ensure efficient and effective program operations, and to support staff of all hubs with their individual and collective human resource needs.

Key responsibilities include


  •     implementing existing HR policies and processes in accordance with GRM requirements;
  •     periodically reviewing HR policies and systems
  •     coordinating, monitoring and supporting the implementation of performance management systems including addressing individual performance issues
  •     coordinating the implementation of staff training and development plans
  •     monitoring and ensuring compliance by staff with all HR policies and processes, including submission of timesheets and leave records
  •     supporting recruitment processes as necessary and providing timely and accurate reporting on HR related data
  •     Providing support to the staff of all hubs on day to day HR needs and responding to GRM's broader HR data requirements.

About You

Selection criteria


  •     Minimum Bachelor-level qualification in the human resources field
  •     Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
  •     Demonstrated knowledge of the South African Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Act, No 11 of 2002 and the Kenyan Employment Act, No 11 of 2007 and ability to advise management on their application
  •     Demonstrated experience writing and advising on HR policies and procedures
  •     Effective people management and conflict resolution skills
  •     Previous experience preparing and/or presenting training for staff on HR related topics, including performance management systems
  •     Proficiency in using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook; familiarity with mail merges and web searches
  •     Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  •     Excellent interpersonal skills both face-to-face and over the phone, projecting a high level of professionalism
  •     A keen eye for detail and the ability to produce high quality, accurate work
  •     The ability to work under pressure and a willingness to work to tight deadlines while managing multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff
  •     Strong initiative and customer service ethic and high expectations for quality standards
  •     Demonstrated high energy level and flexibility, personable with sound judgement; knowledge of correct protocol for specific situations

Desirable

    Qualifications or equivalent experience in drafting legal documents that conform to relevant legislation
    Knowledge of and experience working in international development and / or with international donor organisations
